The fine print
Privacy Policy
Last updated August 16, 2026
One Degree Marriage (“One Degree Marriage,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit onedegreemarriage.com (the “Site”) and when you use the One Degree Marriage mobile app for iOS and Android (the “App”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site or the App you agree to the practices described here.
The Site and the App collect different things, so they are described separately below.
Part 1 — The website
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Information you give us. When you sign up for our emails, download a free resource, or join a waitlist, we collect your first name and email address. When you contact us by email, we receive whatever information you choose to include.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location, referring pages, and how you interact with the Site. This may be gathered through cookies or similar technologies.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send you the resources, emails, and updates you request;
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and partnership inquiries;
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our content;
- Understand how visitors use the Site so we can make it better;
- Comply with our legal obligations.
Email & marketing
We use Flodesk to manage our email list and send marketing emails. You will only be added to our list if you submit one of our signup forms and confirm your consent. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails but does not delete records we are required to keep.
Our online store
Our shop is hosted on a separate storefront at shop.onedegreemarriage.com and is powered by Shopify. When you make a purchase there, your information is handled under that store's checkout and Shopify's privacy practices, which this Policy does not cover.
Service providers
We share information with trusted third parties only as needed to run our business, for example, our email platform (Flodesk), our website host (Vercel), our content management provider (Sanity), our website analytics provider (Google Analytics), and our e-commerce platform (Shopify). These providers may process your information only on our behalf and are expected to protect it. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device that help websites function and remember preferences. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and move through the Site, which sets cookies to measure traffic and page performance in aggregate. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when they are used; some parts of the Site may not work as intended if you disable them. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google’s browser add-on.
Part 2 — The One Degree Marriage app
Information the app collects
The App requires an account. Here is everything it collects and why:
- Account information.Your name, email address, and password, so you can sign in and so your spouse can recognize you. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see them. We also store your time zone so that streaks roll over on your local calendar day.
- What you and your spouse write and do in the app. Your daily challenge completions, streak history, weekly meeting answers and notes, appreciations, mission statement, and any custom questions you add. This is stored so that it can be shown back to you and to the spouse you are paired with, and for no other purpose.
- Pairing and referral codes.The invite code that links your account to your spouse's, and any referral or promo code you enter.
- Usage and diagnostic data. Which screens you open, which actions you take (for example, completing a challenge or opening the upgrade screen), when they happen, and whether they succeeded or failed. This is associated with your account so we can understand how the App is actually used and fix what is broken.
- Purchase information.Whether you have an active One Degree Pro subscription and your purchase history for it. We never receive or store your card number or payment details — those go directly to Apple or Google.
- Notification token. If you turn on reminders, a device push token so we can deliver them.
What the app does not collect
We think this matters more than the list above, so we want to be specific about it:
- The private contents of your marriage never leave your account. Your meeting notes, appreciations, mission statement, and challenge reflections are never included in analytics, never used to train anything, and never reviewed for advertising. Our analytics record that you completed a challenge — never what you wrote.
- We do not use advertising identifiers.The App does not use your device's advertising ID, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and shows no ads.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or health data.
How we use app information
- To create your account and keep you signed in;
- To run the core features — daily challenges, streaks, pairing with your spouse, and the weekly meeting;
- To send the reminders and notifications you turn on;
- To provide and restore your One Degree Pro subscription;
- To understand how the App is used so we can improve it and fix bugs;
- To respond to your support requests;
- To comply with our legal obligations.
Who we share app information with
We share information only with the service providers that make the App work. They process it on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase— account authentication and the database that stores your app data.
- PostHog— product analytics and diagnostics.
- RevenueCat— subscription management.
- Apple and Google— payment processing for subscriptions, and delivery of push notifications.
Information is encrypted in transit. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
What your spouse can see
One Degree Marriage is designed to be used by two paired people. When you pair with your spouse, they can see your name, your streak and completion history, and the entries you contribute to your shared weekly meeting and appreciations. Please keep that in mind when you write. If you use the App in solo mode, nothing is shared with anyone else.
Deleting your app account
You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the App. Deleting removes your profile, your completions and streak history, and the content you have written. If your spouse has their own account, deleting yours does not delete theirs. You can also email us at hello@onedegreemarriage.com and we will delete your account for you. We may retain limited records, such as transaction records, where the law requires it.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Once you delete your account, we remove your personal information from our active systems, and it is cleared from routine backups within 30 days.
Part 3 — Both the site and the app
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses of it. To make a request, email us at hello@onedegreemarriage.com and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
Children's privacy
The Site and the App are intended for married adults. They are not directed to children, and the App is rated for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site or the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
